How i can monitor the errors like (runts, input errors, CRC ) on Cisco switch 2960? or what is the items i have to watch?

Hi ghbage,

You can monitor this by snmp. You will need to have configured zabbix --with-net-snmp.

Here are some OIDs for you to try:
Runts 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.2.2.1.1.10
Giants 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.2.2.1.1.11
CRC 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.2.2.1.1.12
Frames 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.2.2.1.1.13
Overrun 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.2.2.1.1.14
Ignored 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.2.2.1.1.15
Collisions 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.2.2.1.1.25

What is the difference between the net-snmp and the default snmp template in Zabbix. it's what i activated in switch?

Net-snmp is what you need to configure zabbix with in order to use snmp. Check your zabbix_server.log for this:

21074:20100506:144908 WEB monitoring: YES

If you don't have that then you need to
./configure --enable-server --prefix=/usr/local/zabbix --with-mysql --with-net-snmp --with-jabber --with-libcurl

The Templates are what you link to a host, to monitor that host.
The default snmp template might be a good place for you to start, but it doesn't monitor runts, CRCs, etc.
You might need to create your own template. Perhaps the SNMP Builder for Zabbix is worth trying, I think it can create a template for you (if you have the MIBs) http://www.zabbix.com/forum/showthread.php?t=15088

Hi everyone.

This is what i received this morning after the configuration that i made last Friday :

locIfInRunts Triggers (0) locIfInRunts 60 7 365 SNMPv2 agent Not supported

Do someone knows what this means ?

It means that the Item is Not supported. That means that either the Item configuration is wrong, or you have not configured zabbix --with-net-snmp, or you have not enabled snmp on your device.

Do you see this 'SNMP monitoring: YES' in the zabbix_server.log when you start the server?

Can you also post details of the Item configuration (or a screenshot of Item config).

Once I had problems polling some of my switches/routers using SNMPv2. Try using SNMPv1 instead. This solved my problem.

Can you provide some details about the item config., and the OID that is causing the error.

Hi.
I think of having understood where my error came from.

For example: when we use the snmpwalk command, this one can displayed one or several values.

In my case, for the OID: collisions 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.2.2.1.1.25, it was necessary to add the extension .10101 for the interface G0 / 1 and so on.

I hope , I have been clear in my feedback...
