“Staying free and open source”: Zabbix Founder confirms at Zabbix Conference Latam 2025 that a profitable business model is possible

More than 300 people gathered on the first day of Zabbix Conference Latam 2025, the largest Zabbix monitoring event in Latin America. The first part of the day focused on strategic talks about the tool’s roadmap, as well as discussions led by business partners and clients on the topic of open source, data, and business.

Alexei Vladishev, Founder and CEO of the company, welcomed all the enthusiastic attendees and shared major announcements in his presentation Getting closer to Zabbix 8.0 — the launch of the new version is planned for the fourth quarter of 2025. He also reaffirmed that, after 20 years of existence, the company remains committed to keeping the Zabbix tool license-free:

“It has been proven that it is possible to be open source and maintain a business model. There are no plans to change the licenses — Zabbix will always remain an open source product. We are celebrating 20 years of Zabbix, and it’s incredible. Thank you to the users, customers, partners, and everyone for your trust,” said Alexei Vladishev, Founder and CEO of Zabbix.

<pAs part of technology democratization, Alexei spoke about the benefits of Zabbix Cloud and emphasized that this is why it offers a low cost compared to its high value: “With Zabbix Cloud, anyone can deploy their own Zabbix instance with the push of a button.”

Next, Luciano Alves, CEO of Zabbix Latam, presented the business potential of MSPs in his talk MSPs in the business roadmap, and explained how important it is to have specialized teams, stressing the value of certification. He also announced the release of a new report: Scalability, security, and efficiency for MSPs: How to deliver better results with Zabbix, now available for download HERE.

Luciano Alves then moderated the panel Open Source, Data and Business — sponsored by CTL — a space to debate the latest trends in open source tools and their relationship with the market.

Panel participants included:

  • Alexei Vladishev, Founder & CEO, Zabbix SIA, Latvia
  • Maurício Magalhães, Associate Director, Global CTO, Kyndryl, Brazil
  • Juan Guido Camaño, CEO & Founder, CTL, Argentina
  • Jorge Pretel, CEO, JLCP, Brazil

The panelists highlighted that although many companies already use open source tools, they still face challenges related to complexity and security. There is a growing trend to move from operational use to strategic use of monitoring, which still requires greater organizational maturity.

Luciano Alves, CEO of Zabbix Latam, explained that Zabbix is transitioning into a strategic observability platform, with new integrations like OpenTelemetry, strengthening its position in the market beyond infrastructure monitoring.

Innovation Panels, Integration, and Success Stories

On the first day of Zabbix Conference Latam 2025, attendees from 7 countries participated with great enthusiasm and interest in the latest updates and possibilities offered by the Zabbix tool. All activities took place at the Wyndham São Paulo Ibirapuera Convention Plaza hotel.

Nine presentations were delivered on the main stage that day, beginning with the talk Advanced monitoring integration with Zabbix: the ANBIMA case, by Gabriel Pedroso, CEO of Unirede, and Gustavo de Souza Ribeiro, Senior Infrastructure Analyst at ANBIMA, Brazil. The session demonstrated how Zabbix was centralized in a corporate environment to automate incident management. The team explained how they integrated Zabbix with their ITSM system for both automatic and manual ticket creation, and built dashboards with key metrics such as resolution time, recurrence, and ticket volume — optimizing the monitoring and response process.

Next, Luiz Basílio Ribeiro, Head of the Monitoring and Observability Center at Prodam São Paulo, presented Zabbix as a command center: unifying data from multiple tools, showing the solution they adopted to monitor heterogeneous technology environments using various tools. The approach positioned Zabbix as the central monitoring point, integrating different solutions and offering a unified view for technical teams and managers. This centralization enabled greater operational efficiency, process automation, and the delivery of consolidated dashboards that are accessible to clients.

T-Systems Brazil followed with practical use cases in the session Intelligent monitoring and scalability with Zabbix and Magenta Cloud Intelligence. Marlon Souza, Vice President of Cloud Services at T-Systems, explained how integrating Zabbix with Magenta Cloud Intelligence enables real-time, intelligent, and highly scalable monitoring. Case studies were presented to show how this combination supports alert automation, predictive analytics, and strategic data usage — aiding faster decisions and efficient management of mission-critical environments.

The Vice President of T-Systems emphasized that the company has worked with Zabbix for 15 years and became an MSP in 2024. They now serve more than 50 clients and handle over 12,000 alerts per month.

All speakers presented success stories and shared with the in-person and online audiences (via YouTube) their challenges, how they integrated with other tools, and how Zabbix was implemented in critical environments. One example was JLCP (Brazil), which presented the session E-commerce anomaly monitoring with Zabbix, featuring Salomão Santos, Observability Specialist at JLCP, and Alexandre Souza, Mobile Solutions Coordinator at C&A, Brazil.

The day concluded with a session by IMAGUNET from Colombia (winners of first place at the 2025 Partner Meeting). Ricardo Pinto, Commercial Director, presented The evolution of networking monitoring in ISPs, highlighting how Zabbix has been used to automate tasks, expand visibility, and replace proprietary solutions. He shared practical experiences with discovery, dependencies, correlations, and custom maps — showing improvements in scalability, agility, and operational proactivity.

The 2025 edition of Zabbix Conference Latam welcomed over 100 companies from various sectors, including pharmaceuticals, finance, government, IT solutions, steel, education, and others.
