Zabbix stands out at Tecnopuc Experience 25 with its vision on monitoring and open source

With a full house and an enthusiastic audience, the Crialab stage at Tecnopuc Experience 2025 became the meeting point to discuss collaboration, creativity, and the role of open source in transforming businesses, on October 30th in Porto Alegre. 

Luciano Alves, CEO of Zabbix LatAm, took part in the panel “Collaboration for Business Innovation: Enterprise Open Source” alongside Gabriel Goltz from 2CLOUD. Together, they shared insights on the strategic use of technological tools in corporate environments. 

During his talk, Luciano Alves emphasized the importance of deeply understanding business needs before adopting any technological tool: 

“It’s necessary to understand what the company really needs from such a tool. Sometimes, people want to prove their worth, but they don’t even need 10% of what the tool offers.” 

The CEO of Zabbix in Latin America shared with the audience an important anecdote that marks the beginning of the entire Zabbix story: 

“Our president and founder had an idea and released a software version to solve a personal problem. He was working at a bank when the system went down, and on a Monday morning his director told him: ‘Fix this situation, we can’t afford downtime—our clients can’t stop operating.’ He sat down, wrote a set of scripts to solve the issue, and then decided to share it in a group saying: ‘Look, I made this; maybe it can help someone else.’” 

He added: “I believe what truly keeps Zabbix growing and convinced to remain open source (as long as it is sustainable as a business) is its ideology: allowing it to be used by as many people as possible.” 

Zabbix’s participation in the event reinforced its commitment to the innovation and open source ecosystem, showing how intelligent monitoring can drive efficiency across different areas—from IT infrastructure to marketing. For example, at the Zabbix booth, visitors could explore a real-time monitoring dashboard that tracked and alerted new Instagram posts using the hashtag #TecnopucExperience25, demonstrating the versatility of Zabbix monitoring—even in social media. 

Tecnopuc Experience is a free, public festival that celebrates innovation, science, technology, and entrepreneurship, and is part of the Integrated Academic Week of the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS). In its eighth edition, the event gathered nearly 2,000 participants. 

Through its presence at the event, Zabbix reaffirmed its leadership in open-source monitoring solutions and its commitment to building collaborative technology communities across Latin America.
