Founded in December of 1964, Serpro (Serviço Federal de Processamento de Dados, or SERPRO) is the Brazilian federal government’s IT service and the largest public information technology service provider in Brazil. It was created with the objective to modernize and give agility to the strategic Public Administration sectors of Brazil, and currently the organization is among the biggest one in this sector in Latin America.
The agency works for the Brazilian federal government, maintaining computer systems that manage its budget, help it integrate states’ and municipalities’ accounting, track Brazilian imports and exports and process electronic income tax returns.
