Zabbix Company Releases Zabbix 2.0 Hardware Appliance

June 17, 2013

Zabbix Company, in cooperation with Plat’Home Co. Ltd, has launched a Zabbix 2.0 hardware appliance called “Zabbix Enterprise Appliance” into the Japanese market. It is an easy-to-set-up, maintenance-free, high-confidence and high-performance monitoring solution.

Zabbix Enterprise Appliance allows to start monitoring one's IT environment and operations using all Zabbix functions, including system monitoring, notification and visualization, with minimum efforts and time.

Zabbix Enterprise Appliance was displayed for the first time at the Zabbix booth and Plat'Home booth at Interop Tokyo 2013 exhibition that took place in Tokyo, Japan on June 12-14, 2013.

Features of Zabbix Enterprise Appliance

  • High-confidence and High-performance for Small and Medium-sized Environments

  • Zabbix Enterprise Appliance may be allocated not only in server rooms [1], but almost at any place within office, shop, and factory or other place because of Plat'Home’s small form-factor, fan-less, spindles-less hardware.

The Appliance is optimized as a dedicated Zabbix machine, which allows it to monitor around 200 hosts [2], including Linux, UNIX and Windows servers and network devices.

Moreover, Zabbix Enterprise Appliance has a built-in self-monitoring function, which itself detects monitoring system problems and recover automatically.

  • Energy, Heat and Space Efficient Design

  • Zabbix Enterprise Appliance is build using a dual-core Marvell Armada XP (base architecture:ARM Cortex-A9) CPU, so besides high performance, it features:

    • Power-saving: low power consumption with only 12.0W during idle time, and 15.0W during high-load periods
    • Heat-saving: robust design, which doesn’t have to be air-conditioned, even in the temperature of 50°C
    • Space-saving: it is only 194(W) x 179(D) x 42(H)mm big.
  • Maintenance Free

  • Zabbix Enterprise Appliance adopts the latest database technologies, which prevents from a loss of performance over operation time. The appliance is capable of storing both configuration and data information, including short-term history and long-term averages. Using built-in Zabbix functionality, it is possible to track the appliance disk space using graphs and trends.

Zabbix Enterprise Appliance is configured to do periodical backups to allow easy recovery from an error in monitoring configuration, a hardware failure, as well allowing to copy Zabbix server configuration to other monitoring server.

  • Included Introductory Training to Zabbix

  • To support trouble-free operations of a monitoring system using the appliance, a

Introductory Training to Zabbix (regular price ~$200/€150) for 1 person is included with a purchase of Zabbix Enterprise Appliance. Courses will run starting from July 2013.

During this half-day training customers will learn basic information about major functions of Zabbix Monitoring Solution, will learn to configure the appliance, setup different devices for monitoring by specifying metrics, thresholds, and alarm conditions, as well learn to use Zabbix powerful visualization tools.
