10 Template changes

This page lists all changes to the stock templates that are shipped with Zabbix.

Upgrading to the latest Zabbix version will not automatically upgrade the templates used. It is suggested to modify the templates in existing installations by downloading the latest templates from the Zabbix Git repository and importing them manually into Zabbix.

If templates with the same names already exist, the Delete missing options should be checked when importing to achieve a clean import. This way, the old items that are no longer in the updated template will be removed (note that it will mean losing history of these old items).

Changes in 7.0.0

New templates

• Website by Browser template has been added for monitoring complex websites and web applications.

Updated templates

• Zabbix server health, Remote Zabbix server health, Zabbix proxy health, and Remote Zabbix proxy health templates have been updated according to the changes in network discovery. The item/trigger for monitoring the discoverer process (now removed) have been replaced by items/triggers to measure the process utilization of discovery manager and discovery worker respectively. A new internal item has been added for monitoring the discovery queue.
• MongoDB node by Zabbix agent 2 template item type of mongodb.version has been changed from Dependent item to Zabbix agent.
• Oracle by Zabbix agent 2 template item type of oracle.version has been changed from Dependent item to Zabbix agent.
• All templates containing dashboard widgets have been updated according to the Communication framework for widgets feature. Template dashboard widget elements have been updated to reflect widget field changes in template dashboards.
• Azure by HTTP template has been updated according to the changes to the Plain text widget. The template dashboard widget name and fields elements have been updated to reflect the replacement of the Plain text widget with the Item history widget.

Changes in 7.0.1

New templates

• Azure VM Scale Set by HTTP, a supplement to the Azure by HTTP template set.
• Jira Data Center by JMX, a template for monitoring Jira Data Center health.

Updated templates

The templates Zabbix server health, Remote Zabbix server health, Zabbix proxy health, and Remote Zabbix proxy health have been updated for improved visual representation by transferring item data visualizations from graphs to dashboard widgets and regrouping the displayed metrics.

• AWS Lambda by HTTP, a template for monitoring AWS Lambda metrics.

Changes in 7.0.4

New templates

• GitHub repository by HTTP, a template for monitoring GitHub repositories.
• Microsoft 365 reports by HTTP, a template for monitoring Microsoft 365 services.

Updated templates

The templates within the VMware and VMware FQDN template sets have been updated and supplemented with several improvements including the following:

• new LLD rules "VMware overall health discovery" and "VMware alarm discovery", as well as new dashboards for all VMware templates;
• new items about network statistics - as part of the VMware Hypervisor template;
• new items for getting information about snapshots and triggers for free disk space, as well as an update for the trigger “VM has been restarted” - as part of the VMware Guest template.

Changes in 7.0.5

New templates

• Huawei OceanStor V6 by SNMP, a template for monitoring SAN Huawei OceanStor V6.

Updated templates

• In all APC templates, the discovery rule for external defective battery packs has been supplemented with a filter to avoid creating unsupported items.
• In the templates MSSQL by Zabbix agent 2 and MSSQL by ODBC, a timeout has been added and certain item keys have been adjusted to increase monitoring stability.

Changes in 7.0.6

New templates

• Nutanix Prism Element by HTTP, a template set that also includes the templates Nutanix Cluster Prism Element by HTTP and Nutanix Host Prism Element by HTTP.

In addition, a number of active agent templates have been added for LAMP stack monitoring:

Updated templates

• The template VMware Hypervisor within the VMware and VMware FQDN template sets has been updated with the option to be used as a standalone template.
• Proxmox VE by HTTP has been updated with new items and trigger prototypes for disk space usage in LXC containers.
• In the template MSSQL by ODBC, the performance counter query has been updated to improve data retrieval. Both MSSQL by ODBC and MSSQL by Zabbix agent 2 template documentation has been reviewed and updated.

Changes in 7.0.7

Updated templates

• All templates have been updated to reintroduce trigger name prefixes that were removed in Zabbix 7.0.0.

Changes in 7.0.8

New templates

• Juniper MX by SNMP, a template for the Juniper MX Series.

Changes in 7.0.10

New templates

• The Azure by HTTP template set has been supplemented with the template Azure SQL Managed Instance by HTTP.
• Palo Alto PA-440 by HTTP, a template that uses script items to collect metrics using the PAN-OS XML API.

Updated templates

• All Dell HTTP and SNMP templates have been updated with improvements, including fixes for items, macros, and scripts.
• The templates MSSQL by ODBC and MSSQL by Zabbix agent 2 have been updated with filters to include or exclude discovered quorum members by name as well as a service filter that allows filtering by cluster name to exclude empty clusters. Please see Breaking changes for additional information on MSSQL by Zabbix agent 2.

Changes in 7.0.11

New templates

• The Azure by HTTP template set has been supplemented with the template Azure Microsoft SQL DTU Database by HTTP.
• The template set Zabbix server health has been supplemented with the templates Zabbix server health by Zabbix agent, Zabbix server health by Zabbix agent active, and Zabbix proxy health - with Zabbix proxy health by Zabbix agent and Zabbix proxy health by Zabbix agent active, enabling the monitoring of internal Zabbix metrics via Zabbix agent.

Updated templates

• The templates within the VMware and VMware FQDN template sets have been updated with fixes for datastore item prototypes. In the template VMware Guest, an incorrect preprocessing multiplier has been fixed in the item for virtual machine network utilization, and a problem has been fixed in the discovery rule for mounted filesystems.

Changes in 7.0.12

New templates

• Pure Storage FlashArray v1 and v2 by HTTP, a template set for monitoring Pure Storage FlashArray systems.

Updated templates

• MySQL by Zabbix agent, MySQL by Zabbix agent 2, MySQL by Zabbix agent active, MySQL by Zabbix agent 2 active, and MySQL by ODBC have been updated with a fix for the buffer pool efficiency formula.
• In the template MSSQL by ODBC, the item "Get last backup" has been updated to exclude non-existing databases from the query.

Changes in 7.0.13

New templates

• The Azure by HTTP template set has been supplemented with the template Azure Backup Jobs by HTTP.

Updated templates

• PostgreSQL by Zabbix agent 2 has been updated for compatibility with PostgreSQL 17 and now uses the new pg_stat_checkpointer system view for checkpoint statistics (previously pg_stat_bgwriter).

Changes in 7.0.14

Updated templates

• Oracle by ODBC and Oracle by Zabbix agent 2 have been updated to query PDB and tablespace statistics using the container ID instead of the container name.

Changes in 7.0.17

New templates

• Cisco Secure Firewall Threat Defense by HTTP, a template providing monitoring capabilities for Cisco Secure Firewall Threat Defense devices using REST API.

Updated templates

• The template VMware Guest within the VMware and VMware FQDN template sets has been updated with a new item Boot time. This item now replaces Uptime of guest OS in the trigger VM has been restarted to avoid false positives after virtual machine migrations, such as vMotion.

• The AWS by HTTP template set has been supplemented with the template AWS Backup Vault by HTTP.

Changes in 7.0.19

• Aruba CX 8300s by SNMP, a template providing SNMP-based monitoring for the Aruba CX 8300 switch series.
• Ciena 3906 by SNMP, a template for monitoring Ciena 3906 devices.
• Vyatta Virtual Router by SNMP, a template for monitoring the Vyatta 1908e virtual router.

Updated templates

• Huawei OceanStor Dorado by SNMP has been updated with details on device coverage.
• The template sets Zabbix server health and Zabbix proxy health have been updated with extended preprocessor throughput monitoring capabilities.

Changes in 7.0.20

New templates

• Stormshield SNS by SNMP, a template for monitoring Stormshield Network Security (SNS) devices via SNMP.

Changes in 7.0.22

New templates

• Ribbon SBC Edge by HTTP, a template for monitoring Ribbon SBC Edge (formerly SWe Lite) devices via HTTP.
• Ribbon SBC SWe Core by HTTP, a template for monitoring SBC SWe Core devices via HTTP, and Ribbon SBC SWe CE by HTTP, a template for monitoring Ribbon SBC SWe Call Engine (CE) instances via HTTP.
• VeloCloud SD-WAN Edge by HTTP, a template for monitoring VeloCloud SD-WAN Edge devices via HTTP.

Updated templates

• MySQL by Zabbix agent, MySQL by Zabbix agent 2, MySQL by Zabbix agent active, MySQL by Zabbix agent 2 active, and MySQL by ODBC have been updated to support both SHOW SLAVE STATUS (old syntax) and SHOW REPLICA STATUS (new syntax).
• VeloCloud SD-WAN by HTTP, previously VMWare SD-WAN VeloCloud by HTTP, has been renamed and updated to align with the latest VeloCloud SD-WAN platform.

Changes in 7.0.23

Updated templates

• Ciena 3906 by SNMP has been updated to include filesystem and CPU load items.
• Vyatta Virtual Router by SNMP has been updated with new OID items and dashboard enhancements.
